BSF Jawan Injured in Unexpected Pakistani Fire

On Wednesday, India’s Border Security Force BSF Jawan was injured in the Akhnoor district of Jammu after Pakistani troops opened fire on Indian posts without warning, violating a ceasefire agreement along the border. India’s BSF personnel also retaliated. India’s BSF Officials stated that deaths on the Pakistani side were not immediately known.

Unexpected fire from across the Ino-Pak, i.e. LoC border occurred in the Akhnoor area on September 11, 2024, at around 02:35 AM. The BSF appropriately replied to this event that In the Pakistan side firing , one BSF personnel was injured. India’s BSF official said that “Our troops are on high alert.”

Since India and Pakistan extended their ceasefire agreement on February 25, 2021, there have been very few ceasefire violations between the two nations i.e India & Pakistan.

A BSF jawan was killed last year in firing by Pakistan Rangers in the Ramgarh sector Jammu & Kashmir, marking the first loss of life on the Indian side in over three years.

Shortly before the first of three phases of assembly elections, which are set for September 18, there is a violation of the ceasefire agreement. The dates for the second and third phases are respectively September 25 and October 1.

It is estimated that between 60 and 80 terrorists entered the Jammu area in March and April of this year. Pakistan has made an effort to push terrorists more widely, which has forced security forces to step up counter-insurgency operations.

On August 22, BSF Director General Daljit Singh visited a security inspection at the Jammu border. For the annual Amarnath Yatra, the Union government has kept over 450 companies of paramilitary forces deployed in Jammu and Kashmir. Another nearly four hundred companies have been assigned to poll duty.

In preparation of the first assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir in ten years, the Union government has called in paramilitary forces. This move comes in the wake of an increase in terror strikes in the rugged and hilly Jammu area since June.
