Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi Marlena took over as Delhi’s eighth chief minister on Monday, placing an empty chair next to her own in honor of Aam Aadmi Party’s chairman Arvind Kejriwal.
As Delhi’s chief minister, Atishi positioned Arvind Kejriwal in the empty chair next to her. Ahead of the next elections, she retains her old responsibilities and is in charge of a new cabinet. On September 26 and 27, the Assembly will meet to discuss outstanding proposals and projects.
Atishi’s Statement after being Delhi CM :
Atishi Marlena stated that “I took over as Delhi’s chief minister today. I’m feeling the same way as Lord Bharat took over after Lord Ram left on ‘Vanvaas’.”Like Bharat did, I shall serve as Delhi’s chief minister for four months, upholding the throne of Lord Ram’s stand up. Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation serves as a model of dignity in politics. She also claimed, “The BJP did everything in its power to damage his reputation.
Instead of accepting Kejriwal’s seat, Atishi chose to take a different one
She further said on taking over as Delhi’s chief minister, “Arvind Kejriwal has set a new standard; he was imprisoned by fake allegations. He stated that he will not sit on the chair again till the people of Delhi believe that he is honest. The election is almost here. People will select him. Until then, this chair would wait for him. After four months, I have no doubt that the people of Delhi will return him.”
She kept her former 13 responsibilities from the Kejriwal government, which include education, revenue, finance, power, and PWD.The Delhi Assembly will hold a session on September 26 and 27
Chief Minister of Delhi Atishi Marlena was targeted by BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya, who accused her of political theater. Malviya stated in a tweet: “This drama in Delhi has to end. By setting an empty chair next to her chief minister’s chair today, Atishi Marlena assumed leadership.
Accordingly, Arvind Kejriwal is the true chief minister of Delhi, and the Supreme Court has barred him from entering the Delhi Secretariat or even signing documents.” Atishi, on the other hand, is the Manmohan Singh of the Delhi government.”

Manoj Tiwari, a BJP MP, attacked Atishi once more, accusing her of undermining the chief minister’s position. “It raises many questions if she displays an empty chair,” Tiwari stated. It implies that she does not regard herself as the head of the ministry. It is disrespectful to the office and the Constitution to occupy the position while considering someone else as CM.”
“I have written a letter to Delhi CM Atishi, but who will read it?” he continued. How can the leader of the government admit that she is a puppet? They are depressing public sentiment.
Following the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi took office as chief minister on Saturday. She is the third woman to assume the role in the history of the capital, joining Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit as the youngest leaders to have the role.
