Through video conference on 31-august-2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched three new Vande Bharat Express trains: one for Chennai-Nagercoil, one for Madurai-Bengaluru, and one for Meerut-Lucknow.Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated three Vande Bharat Express trains: Meerut-Lucknow, Madurai-Bengaluru, and Chennai-Nagercoil. These new services aim to improve commuting for both residents and professionals. The trains offer faster travel throughout multiple districts, helping to the country’s ongoing Vikas Yatra.
PM Modi said that, this train expnsion take us to our vision of Viksit Bharat. These three New vande Bharat trains will connect the important and historic cities, i.e. temple city madurai will now connect to the IT city Bengaluru.
The new trains will increase the number of semi-high speed trains in the fleet, which now numbers over 100 and connects over 280 districts nationwide.PM Modi stated that, A new era is being added to the nation’s Vikas Yatra today, covering from North to South Vande Bharat train services between Meerut and Lucknow, Madurai and Bengaluru, and Chennai and Nagercoil will begin today.

Timing and Route for the Chennai Central to Nagercoil Vande Bharat train
Chennai and the lovely city of Nagercoil would be connected by the Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil Vande.
The people of 12 districts in Tamil Nadu—Kanniyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Trichy, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, and Chennai—will be able to travel by train faster and more easily with this 726-kilometer train.
Chennai Egmore would leave at 5:00 am in the morning and arrive in Nagercoil at 1:30 pm. At 2:20 PM, the return train departs Nagercoil and arrives in Chennai at 11 PM.
Timing and Route for the Madurai to Bengaluru Cantonment Vande Bharat train
Six days a week, with the exception of Tuesdays, Vande Bharat will run between Bengaluru and Madurai in Tamil Nadu.
The train will depart Madurai at 5:15am and reach Bengaluru Cantonment at 1pm, stopping at Dindugal,Tiruchirappalli, Karur, Namakkal, Salem, and Krishnarajapuram. In return (Train No. 20672), it will leave Bengaluru at 1:30pm, arriving in Madurai at 9:45pm.
The railway government claims that new train will make it easier for workers, students, and businesspeople to commute from Tamil Nadu Bengaluru, where they are originally from.
Timing and route for the Meerut City-Lucknow Vande Bharat train
The first Vande Bharat Express to connect Meerut and Lucknow is the third train, the Meerut City-Lucknow Vande Bharat Express. With the exception of Tuesdays, it will be open six days a week.
The train will depart Meerut City at 6:35 a.m. and arrive at Lucknow’s Charbagh railway station at 1:45 p.m., making stops in Moradabad and Bareilly. On the return journey (Train No. 22489), the train will leave Charbagh Railway Station at 2:45pm and arrive in Meerut City at 10:00pm.
According to the government, the rapid connectivity to Lucknow via the Vande Bharat Express train will provide a significant boost to the Meerut region’s industry.
“To achieve the vision of a developed India, it is critical to boost the economic growth of southern states. The region has been gifted with abundant talent, resources, and possibilities. As a result, our government prioritized the development of the entire south, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and beyond. In this year’s budget, we allocated more than 6 trillion rupees for railways in Tamil Nadu. Modi stated that this budget is more than seven times larger than the one passed in 2014.
