Investing Rs 620 crores Semiconductor Industry over three years, RIR Power Electronics Ltd. has started the construction of India’s first Silicon Carbide manufacturing facility in Bhubaneswar. Over 500 jobs would be generated by this project, which will also help Odisha achieve its goal of becoming a semiconductor hub and boost research collaboration with IIT Bhubaneswar.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who was present at the groundbreaking ceremony, stated that the construction of the RIR Power Electronics Ltd. plant is a significant step forward in the ongoing attempt to build Odisha as a leading semiconductor industry in India.

The ground-breaking ceremony for India’s first Silicon Carbide manufacturing plant, to be developed by RIR Power Electronics Ltd at the EMC Park in Infovalley, was held on Friday in Bhubaneswar, which is expected to have a positive impact on the semiconductor industry.

Worldwide, RIR’s products are sold in North America, Europe, and Asia for use in the railway, defense, power, transportation, aerospace, and sustainable energy sectors, among other industries. It is expected that this initiative will help India achieve its goal of becoming a center for semiconductor manufacturing.

According to a CMO statement, “the opening of this state-of-the-art facility, which represents a total investment of about Rs 620 crores over three years, signifies a pivotal step for Odisha’s entry into the power electronics industry.”

RIR Power Electronics Ltd. plant will create more than 500 new jobs at different levels. It will improve Bhubaneswar’s industrial environment by putting best practices into reality, using sustainable energy, and encouraging the development of cutting-edge technology while developing a workforce that is both skilled and diverse.

The Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi declared, “This new facility will not only produce cutting-edge products but also open up a wealth of opportunities for our talented youth, giving them avenues to work at the forefront of technology right here in Odisha.”

The CMO statement goes on to say that Odisha has firmly positioned itself behind this national desire as India sets out to establish an indigenous semiconductor ecosystem. It is among the few Indian states that has implemented a Semiconductor Policy specifically.

It claims that in addition to RIR Power Electronics Ltd., Odisha has received multiple investment offers for the construction of additional facilities in the city in the semiconductor and associated industries. RIR is currently establishing a technical and scientific collaboration agreement with IIT, Bhubaneswar.
