On Sunday Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced surprise resignation Speaking to (Aam Aadmi Party) AAP leaders and supporters, Arvind Kejriwal also declared that Manish Sisodia, who is a former deputy chief minister and party colleague who is also accused in the liquor policy case, will not be taking over as leader of the party. Kejriwal also said that, Sisodia and he would take back their respective positions “only after people say we are honest”.Following Arvind Kejriwal’s unexpected declaration, these are a few of the most likely candidates for Next Chief Minister of Delhi.

Arvind Kejriwal stated while addrressing people “After two days, I am going to resign from the post of CM. I will not sit on the CM’s seat till the people elect me and send me to power again. I will go to the people and ask them for their vote. Agar janta ko lagta hai Kejriwal imandar hai, to mai CM ki seat mai jaa kar baithunga. Nahi toh nahi baithunga (If the people think I am honest, only then will I sit on the CM’s seat),”

SUNITA KEJRIWAL : 

Like her husband Arvind Kejriwal, Sunita Kejriwal was an Indian Revenue Services (IRS) officer before spending more than 20 years working for the Income Tax Department. She was a well-known figure in the Delhi, Gujarat, and Haryana Lok Sabha campaigns for the AAP.


In the same chair that her husband used to sit in and give his video talks, she would frequently make an appearance at news conferences and read messages from Arvind Kejriwal to the audience. She also took part in the Opposition INDIA bloc’s rallies in Ranchi and Delhi, where she regularly criticized the BJP for going after her husband.


As a former bureaucrat, Sunita Kejriwal possesses a wealth of experience in managing bureaucratic procedures and understanding difficult public systems, which will come in handy when addressing the diverse issues facing Delhi. She may be Next Chief Minister of Delhi.

ATISHI : 

Atishi, She may be Next Chief Minister of Delhi because the minister of Delhi who manages PWD and education, is a strong contrender. Ms. Atishi, a Rhodes scholar and Oxford University alumna, has contributed significantly to the AAP’s main initiative to improve education in Delhi’s schools.

She is, 43-year-old, a Kalkaji MLA, was promoted to minister following Mr. Sisodia’s imprisonment in a corruption case involving Delhi’s since-repeated alcohol policy. During Mr. Kejriwal’s and Mr. Sisodia’s imprisonment, Atishi expressed the party’s views. Her choice to raise the tricolor at the Delhi government’s Independence Day ceremony on August 15 was made by Mr. Kejriwal. Even though that plan was stopped by Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, it was clear that Ms. Atishi is highly trusted by the AAP leadership.

Gopal Rai, 49, is a senior politician with a background in student activism who is well-known for his grassroots work and vast experience within the AAP. He has been a significant figure in Delhi’s political scene for a long time.

He holds the position of Cabinet Minister for the Departments of General Administration, Development, and Forests and Wildlife. He was once semi-paralyzed after being shot in the arm during a campaign.Gopal Rai is renowned for having a close relationship with the working-class populations of Delhi. A wide range of people were impacted by his work on environmental concerns and his experience in labor rights.His practical experience in addressing critical issues facing the city, such as labor welfare and pollution management, positions him as a contender for the position of Chief Minister. He may be Next Chief Minister of Delhi.

KAILASH GAHLOT : 

Mr. Gahlot, a lawyer by profession, is one of the senior AAP officials in Delhi and is responsible for important departments like home affairs, finance, and transportation. Since 2015, the 50-year-old leader has served as an MLA for Delhi’s Najafgarh constituency. A practicing lawyer in both the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court, he was a member executive of the high court bar association from 2005 to 2007. He may be Next Chief Minister of Delhi.

RAGHAV CHADHA :

One of the party’s leading figures, Mr. Chadha is a Rajya Sabha MP and a member of the AAP’s national executive and political affairs committee. Mr. Chadha has been a member of the AAP since its founding and has previously held the position of chartered accountant. He represented Rajinder Nagar as an MLA and was important in the AAP’s overwhelming win in Punjab at the 2022 state elections. Known for clearly expressing the AAP’s stance on important issues in Parliament, the 35-year-old is one of the most well-known young politicians in the nation. He may be Next Chief Minister of Delhi.
